Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Centre Underbody Cover
General information
Symptom
Rattling noises in area of centre underbody cover.
Causes and remedial action
Tolerances between the left/right centre underbody cover and the body can lead to disturbing rattling noises in the area of the centre underbody cover
when the vehicle is driven at approx 200 km/h (124 mph).
In the event of a complaint, the following remedial action must be taken: Stick three foam strips onto the left/right centre underbody cover.

Cleaning solution (isopropanol, commercially available)

Preliminary work
1. Remove left/right centre underbody cover. Refer to Removing and installing centre underbody cover.
Reworking centre underbody cover
1. Make foam strips (6x) of the appropriate sizes.
2. Mark the bonding area for the foam strips -A- on the inside of the centre underbody cover -1, 2- (left/right).
