Concerns:
Airbag control unit
Situation:
- Airbag warning light activated in multi-function display,
- Fault codes (8023, 8024, 8027, 8028, 8030, 8034, 8049, 801A, 801B, 801C, 80E0, 80E1, 80E2, 80E8 or 8OBA)
in fault memory of airbag control unit,
- Return of functional airbag control units to the Warranty Test Center.
We have received airbag control units that were replaced because of fault codes in the airbag fault memory.
Evaluation of the reported fault codes has shown that airbag control units were replaced even though the airbag control unit was not responsible for
activating the airbag warning light. We also have reason to assume that troubleshooting was not always done in accordance with "Guided Fault Finding"
using the PIWIS Tester.
Information
As a rule, you must carry out "Guided Fault Finding" using the PIWIS Tester in order to support diagnosis and for eliminating faults.
Below, we have provided an overview of the fault codes that may be stored in the fault memory of the airbag control unit as well as relevant information
on possible causes and remedial measures.
