Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Removing and installing coolant temperature sensor

Preliminary work

1. Drain coolant.
2. Remove cross panel.
3. Remove vacuum pump.

Removing coolant temperature sensor

1. Expose access to temperature sensor -3-.

Unclip oxygen sensor cable. Loosen the holder.

Temperature sensor

1 - Temperature sensor for engine compartment (installation position of cylinder 8)
2 - Sleeve
3 - Temperature sensor (installation position of cylinder 4)

2. Pull off cable plug.
3. Remove coolant temperature sensor from the cylinder head.

Installing coolant temperature sensor

Information
The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally. Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other affected assemblies (e.g.
chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

1. Fit coolant temperature sensor -3- in the cylinder head. Tighten coolant temperature sensor.
