Replacing transmission control unit (PDK)

Reading and writing values

WARNING
The vehicle can move automatically while you are calibrating the transmission control unit (PDK).

The raised vehicle can fall from the lifting platform, for example.

*

Danger of crushing.

Risk of damage to or from objects.

-> During calibration, the brake pedal must be blocked using a commercially available brake pedal lock.
-> The handbrake must be engaged.
-> The vehicle must not be raised and must be standing on its wheels.

Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

-> Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.
-> Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
-> Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least -> Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition and press F12 to continue.
2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
3. Select the required control unit PDK in the overview.
4. Select Maintenance/repairs.
5. Select Control unit replacement and press F12.
6. Read data and press F12.
7. Press F8 to start reading out data.
8. Check the chassis number and press F12.
9. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.

10. Switch on ignition. Select the Write data menu (procedure described above), press F12 and then press F8 to start installing the data that was read

out.

11. The System Tester displays the message Data has been written. Press F12 to continue.
12. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
13. Switch to the Programming menu.
14. Select Automatic programming and press >>.

Information
The wiper comes on once when DME programming is complete.

Do not place any objects on the windscreen.

*

Do not touch the windscreen during programming.

15. Switch ignition off and on again.
16. Select the required control unit PDK in the overview.
17. Select Maintenance/repairs.
18. Read out the PDK fault memory and check whether faults are present.
18.1.

If faults are present, correct the faults according to Guided Fault Finding instructions.

18.1.1.

Erase the fault memory, then switch ignition off and then on again.

18.2.

If there are no faults present, proceed with the calibration process.

19. Select the Calibration menu and press >>.
20. Observe the warnings and test prerequisites displayed on the Tester.
