Install the assembled cylinder head and manifold on the block. Be sure the head is properly seated on the locating dowels (66) in the block (Fig.
33).

Lubricate the cylinder head bolt threads and the underside of the bolt heads with engine oil.
8.
Install and tighten the cylinder head bolts only as described in the following procedure:
a.
Tighten the head bolts in the sequence shown in Figure 34. Use wrench tool Mot. 852, or an equivalent to tighten the bolts.
b.
Tighten the bolts to an initial torque of 30 N-m (22 ft.lbs.).
c.
Tighten the bolts a second time to 70 N-m (52 ft.lbs.) torque.
d.
Wait three or four minutes-then-completely loosen all the bolts.
e.
Tighten the bolts to 20 N-m (15 ft.lbs.) torque.
