Shift Cable: Service and Repair

Fig. 4 Selector cable installation.

1.

Remove retaining clip and disconnect cable from transaxle linkage lever.

2.

Raise and support vehicle.

3.

Remove retaining clip and spacer washers, noting position for reassembly, then disconnect cable from selector lever, Fig. 4.

Loosen adjusting yoke retaining nuts and remove cable.

5.

Route replacement cable through adjustment yoke, connect cable to selector lever and install spacers and retainer.

6.

Tighten adjusting yoke retaining nuts and lower vehicle.

7.

Connect cable to transaxle linkage lever and secure with retainer.

8.

Place selector lever in Park position, then raise and support vehicle.

9.

Loosen adjusting yoke nuts, remove slack from cable, then tighten nuts to secure adjustment.

10.

Lower vehicle and ensure that all selector lever positions are functional and that vehicle starts with lever in Park position.
