Discharged battery
Cars affected
Saab 9-3, M07.
Background
The battery can be discharged if the key is left in the ignition switch for more than a couple of hours, e.g. parking overnight, even if the key is in the
LOCK position.
This is because the radio and amplifiers do not enter "sleep mode", which means that the standby current is high and the battery is discharged.
In the case of customer complaint, the following procedure must be carried out.
Symptom description
The battery is discharged if the key is left in the ignition switch for more than a couple of hours.
Parts required
Not affected.
Procedure
1. Check the battery in accordance with WIS - 3. Electrical system - Charging systems - Adjustment/Replacement - Battery check during service.
2. Connect TECH2 version 131.000 or later.
3. Carry out SPS programming of the BCM control module, see WIS - General - TIS 2000 - Technical description - Service Programming System.
The software version must be 12 779 004 and it is available from TIS2000 edition 2007-1.
