Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair

Oil filter adapter housing

To remove

1. Raise the car and remove the right-hand air shield. Viggen: front air shield.
2. Detach the oil hoses at the adapter housing and remove the oil pipe to the turbocharger. Remove the oil filter.
3. Remove the adapter housing.

To fit

1. Fit new O-rings.
2. Clean the sealing surfaces and oil the O-ring. Apply flange sealant, part no. 93 21 795, and fit the adapter housing.

Connect the oil seals and the pipe to the turbocharger (turbo).
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.)

4. Make sure the oil plug is tight, fit the oil filter and the air shields. Lower the car.

Tightening torques:
Oil filter: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)

5. Fill up with motor oil, warm up the engine and check for leaks.
