9-5 (9600) L4-2.3L Turbo (B235) (2001)
General
The car is prewired ready for fitting a CD changer that is available as an accessory. One extra cable is still required, which is included with the CD
changer.
The CD changer is activated by:
-
pressing the CD button on the main unit if the CD player is active;
-
pressing the CD button twice if the audio system is in the RADIO or TAPE mode (Premium/Prestige).
Function
The CD changer is powered separately (+30) from fuse 9 to pin 6 in the CD changer connector.
When the audio system has been activated, the CD changer will read the "wake-up" information from the main unit on pins 5 and 11 on the bus. The CD
changer is then activated (switched on).
The sound signal (line outputs) from the CD changer to the main unit is supplied via:
-
pins 3 and 8 for the left-hand channel;
-
pins 2 and 7 for the right-hand channel.
The CD changer functions are controlled by commands from the main unit via the bus. Information is sent to the bus when the CD changer is active. SID
reads the information and shows the status on the display.
Refer to "Test values, CD changer connections". See: Testing and Inspection
Control functions
The same buttons are used to control the CD changer and the CD player. To select a CD use the preset buttons 1-6 on the main unit.
