Windscreen and Rear Window

The windscreen and rear window on the Saab 9-5 form part of the car's load-bearing structure. The window panes contribute a great deal to the torsional
stiffness of the body. Their design and mounting have been carefully tested to meet with safety laws. The airbags in the SRS system are supported by the
windscreen when they have been activated. Therefore, it is extremely important that the windscreen is mounted correctly, both for the function of the car
and for the safety of the occupants.
All the cars in the Saab 9-5 range are fitted with green-tinted heat-absorbing glass.
The heat-absorbing glass contains iron oxide, which absorbs and stores the heat. While the car is being driven, the passing air cools the glass and in this
way takes the stored heat with it. On cars fitted with ACC, the heat-absorbing glass will reduce fan speed.
The only glass adhesive that has been crash tested and approved for the after-sales market is Betamate E 2400. If Saab Automobile AB is to take
responsibility for guaranteeing a continued high degree of safety after window replacement, windows must be glued with Betamate E 2400.
