The lighting goes out while the engine is started (starter motor cranks). However, it does not stay off for more than 20 seconds.
So as not to burden the battery more than is necessary, DICE switches the lighting off when the starter motor is activated. When the ignition switch
reverts from the ST position to ON, DICE switches the lighting on again. For safety reasons the shut-off time is maximized to 20 seconds, so that the
lighting will function even if +54 is lacking in the event of a fault.
Voltage +30 for the glove-box lighting is always fed to DICE via fuse 20. Power is fed from pin 70 on the control module to the lamp (19).
Diagnosis
The output is provided with overload protection which shuts it off in the event of an excessive load. When this occurs, diagnostic trouble code B1220
will be generated.
DTCs are not generated if the voltage is below 11 V or during diagnostic communication.
NOTE: Should a fault occur in the interior lighting, diagnostic trouble code B1220 may be generated (instead of the normal B1215), since the roof
lighting (50F) is not electrically isolated from the reading and mirror lights.
