Wheel Bearing: Description and Operation
System Overview
The wheel bearings are incorporated in the hub and are not part of a shaft or stub-axle assembly. The bearings are of double-row, angular-contact type
which are permanently lubricated and maintenance-free. They can be replaced separately at the front but not at the rear. The hub is of lightweight design
and centerd directly on the bearing.
The front-wheel bearing is a press fit in the steering swivel member and secured with a circlip. The hub is then pressed into the bearing.
The rear-wheel bearing and hub are constructed as a single unit, which is bolted to the rear axle's longitudinal link.
An ABS sensor is incorporated in each rear hub.
