Insufficient heating or cooling
Cars affected
All Saab 9-5 MY02 within VIN range 23023934 - 23026972 having a solenoid valve for the heat exchanger shut-off valve.
Background
In conjunction with the introduction of a new ACC panel with provisions for cars with and without a solenoid valve for the heat exchanger shut-off
valve, diagnostic trouble code generation for this function has been missed in the software. The function of the components is not affected, but this can
make fault diagnosis difficult, for example in cases where a customer complains of reduced heating or cooling performance.
Symptom description
Heating and cooling are experienced as insufficient. No diagnostic trouble code is generated if there is an electrical fault in the solenoid valve for the
heat exchanger shut-off valve.
Parts required
TECH 2, version 43.000
Procedure
After customer complaint regarding reduced heating or cooling for cars within the specified VIN range, program the ACC panel with HEAT
EXCHANGE SOLENOID with the spare part program. Following this, check the function of the system and check for any diagnostic trouble codes. If
there are any diagnostic trouble codes, continue fault diagnosis as prescribed.
