Body - Chrome Trim Coming Off of Grille

Chrome Trim On Grille Coming Off (Replace Center Trim)

2005 Saab 9-7X
Condition
Some customers may comment that the center chrome trim is missing from the grille.
Cause
Hot ambient temperature may be the cause, allowing the trim to come loose and fall off.
Correction
Replace the trim and apply an adhesive to the trim tabs. Follow the procedure below.
1.
Open the hood.
2.
Remove the two 7 mm and the 10 mm bolts from the filler closeout panel (This is part of the fascia).
3.
Lift the closeout panel up in order to gain access to the back side of the grille.
4.
Apply some pressure to the back side of the grille and install the new center chrome trim.
5.
Make sure that the retaining tabs lock in place and apply 3M(TM) Structural Adhesive or equivalent to the four lower retaining tabs.
6.
Install the bolts and closeout panel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
7.
Close the hood.
