Rear Door Exterior Handle: Service and Repair

Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair/Rear Side Door Trim

Panel Replacement).

2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair/Rear Side Door

Water Deflector Replacement).

3. Release the clip that retains the lock rod to the handle.
4. Remove the lock rod from the handle.
5. Remove the nut that retains the handle and bracket to the door.
6. Remove the bracket from the handle.
7. Remove the handle from the door.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the handle to the door.
2. Install the bracket to the handle.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Notice).

3. Install the nut that retains the handle to the bracket.

Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (88 in. lbs.).

4. Install the lock rod to the handle.
5. Install the clip that retains the lock rod to the handle.
6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair/Rear Side Door

Water Deflector Replacement).

7. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair/Rear Side Door Trim

Panel Replacement).
