Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

Remove clutch and flywheel.

Using a suitable screwdriver, pry old oil seal.

Before installing, lubricate lip of new seal with engine oil, then install seal using tool No. 8392540. Some models have a long guide pin installed in
the end of the crankshaft. If this is the case, modify the tool as follows:

The alignment hole for the guide pin must be drilled with a 29/64" (11 mm) drill through the outer shell of the tool, to allow enough depth
for the increased length of the pin. Modify tool as shown in Fig. 3, to allow it to be used on both types of crankshaft pins.

Seat seal in place, using a mallet and suitable drift.
