3. Set up the dial indicator as shown in the figure and measure the backlash.
4. Calculate the difference between the measured and calculated backlash, and then move a suitable thickness of shims to the left-hand bearing
housing. Then check the backlash again.
NOTE: When adjusting the backlash, use the set of shims selected earlier. The total thickness of shims must not be altered.
