SUBJECT:
CORRECTING WATER BUILD-UP IN THE EVAPORATOR HOUSING
APPLICATION: ALL 9000 MODELS, 1986 -
Water build-up in the evaporator housing can be caused by an incorrectly positioned evaporator drain pipe. This S.I. outlines how to inspect the drain
pipe position and adjust the pipe to prevent water from collecting in the evaporator.
The symptoms of water accumulation in the evaporator housing include:
^
Water blowing out the center dash vent.
^
Water on the floor near the driver's feet.
^
The heater fan may drag during right-hand turns.
^
Heater fan motor corrosion.
NOTE
Always check the position of the drain pipe after reinstalling the evaporator housing.
