WINDOW GLASS REPLACEMENT                       ISSUE: 11/85-805

APPLICATION: ALL 9000

The front windshield, rear hatch glass and C-pillar side glass are secured to the car body by means of a special glass adhesive. The glued-on windshield
contributes substantially to the structural integrity of the 9000. The use of butyl tape or any adhesives other than those recommended by Saab will result
in insufficient structural rigidity. Do not tow, set the car on jack stands or use a lift when the windshield is out of the car.

Procedures for replacing the glass are well described in the 9000 Service Manual (beginning p. 843-1) but the following should be considered before
starting the job yourself.

1.

Use only the Saab Window Adhesive Kit - P/N 30-07-119. This is the only product approved for use by Saab-Scania AB. The kit contains:

1 Tube Sealant 1 Nozzle (fits sealant tube) 1 Can Primer 1 Primer Applicator 1 Bottle Degreaser

Follow the instructions carefully concerning the usage of the Primer and Degreaser (p. 843-7). These products ensure proper bonding of the glass
to the sealant and the sealant to the body.

Pneumatic Adhesive Guns, Cutting Wire, Cutting Wire Handle and Glass Suction Devices will not be stocked by Saab-Scania of America, Inc.
These tools are handled by your tool jobber. Instead of cutting wire, we recommend the usage of an electric "Hot-Knife" for separating the 
window glass from the body (or rear door hatch). "Hot-Knives" are available from your tool jobber or through Kent-Moore (Kent Moore Tool No.
J 24709-01.)
