Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
Without ABS System

Removal

1

Remove the lower section of the dashboard by the pedal assembly.

Remove the circlip and clevis pin from the brake servo unit's pushrod.

Disconnect the battery cables and lift out the battery.

Undo the fuel filter and move it aside.

(Not model year 1990 and later cars)

Remove the terminal blocks from the battery tray.

Remove the battery tray.

Suck the brake fluid out of the reservoir (use the brake system bleeder unit, part No (16) 88 19096).

Disconnect the hoses from the master cylinder and tuck them up out of the way by the brake fluid reservoir.

Undo the pipe connections.

9 Unbolt the master cylinder from the brake servo unit.

Disconnect the vacuum hose with non-return valve from the servo unit.

11

Undo the brake servo unit's four retaining nuts on the bulkhead partition by the pedal assembly.

12

Lift out the brake servo unit.
