Changing the Gear Lever Bearing (Ball Socket and Ring)

NOTE:  Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.

Replacement

1. Remove the gear lever.
2. Remove the spring that braces the ball race ring and remove the ball race ring by turning it clockwise (bayonet socket).
3. In order to remove the ball race ring from the gear lever the gear lever knob must be removed.
4. Lubricate the bearing with Gleitmo 750.
5. Install the gear lever in the ball race.
6. Hook on the spring into the hook of the bail race ring.

Install the ring into the ball race and make sure that the spring ends up under the ring's heels.

Tighten and then install the spring in the hook of the ball race.
