Subject: New 9000 Brake Light Check Pictogram Feature

Application: 1995- 9000 Models with VIN Serial No. S1031662 and Above

This new feature adds a functional check of the brake light circuit each time the ignition is switched on. The two rear tail light symbols (item 1, Figure 1)
now remain lit until the driver depresses the brake pedal for the first time. If the symbols are not extinguished after the brake pedal is depressed, this
indicates brake light failure.

A sticker has been added to page 11 of the 1995 9000 Owner's Manual with the appropriate information. This information will be printed in the
upcoming 1996 Owner's Manual. The new information reads as follows:

"When the ignition is switched on, the two lamp symbols to the right of the pictogram will remain illuminated until the brake pedal is depressed once. If
the symbols are not extinguished, this indicates brake light failure."

Cars Affected:

1995- Saab 9000 cars with VIN Serial No. 51 031662 and above.

Action:

Please be sure that your entire service and sales staff is aware of this change. This is particularly important during the Pre-delivery Inspection and the
Dedicated Delivery in assuring that the customer does not mistake this pictogram function for a system malfunction.
