Shift Cable: Adjustments

NOTE:  Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.

Removal

1. Undo the two screws on the front of the selector lever and lift the handle from the rod.
2. Set the selector lever to position "1".
3. Undo the screw and remove the gear indicator cover.
4. Undo the nut on the front of the selector lever.
5. Set the transmission lever to NEUTRAL.
6. Set the shifter lever to NEUTRAL.
7. Install the gear indicator cover and check the position through the opening in the cover.

Check that gear indication is correct and that there is play in positions "P" and "1".

If there is no play, adjust the position of the selector lever

8. Check the adjustment of the selector lever cable in positions "N" and "D".

Play should be the same in both positions.

Installation

Install in reverse order.

The plastic spacer which angles the selector lever towards the driver should be installed on the righthand side.
