Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Removal

Step numbers below refer to numbers used in the illustrations.

In vehicle.

1. Remove the dipstick and stuff a cloth into the end of the tube.

Install lifting beam tool No. 83 94 850, or equivalent, to the engine and raise it slightly.

Disconnect the oxygen (Lambda) sensor leads, undo the cable clamp and the clip.

2. Raise the-car, drain the oil and position a lifting table under the engine.
3. Remove the front wheels and the spoiler sections.

Undo the joint between the front exhaust pipe and the intermediate pipe.

4. Unscrew the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Remove the catalytic converter from its bracket and remove the exhaust pipe.
