Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair
Replacement-Rear

Removal

1. Lift the car and take off the rear wheels. Press the brake piston back with the help of a pair of grips.
2. Remove the two brake caliper securing bolts.
3. Disconnect the brake pipe from the clip. Take care not to damage the brake pipe when disconnecting it.
4. Bind the brake caliper to the right hand side using a cable tie. Fix a welding clamp to the silencer and bind the brake caliper on the left hand side

using a cable tie.

5. Release the handbrake adjustment (A).
6. Remove the brake disc securing bolt and take off the brake disc.

Installation

1. Clean the new brake disc free from oil and dirt.
2. Install the brake disc, apply Loctite thread locking compound and tighten the securing bolt.
3. Adjust the handbrake shoes. Screw the adjusting nut until the disc blocks it, then unscrew the adjusting nut until the disc is released. This is

achieved through a hole in the brake disc with the help of a screwdriver.

4. Install the brake caliper, and tighten the securing bolts using Loctite locking compound.
5. Take away the welding clamp and tie on the left side.
6. Install the wheels and tighten the wheel studs.

Tighten to: light alloy wheels 117 Nm (86.6 ft lb)

-

Tighten to: pressed steel wheels 100 Nm (74 ft lb)

7. Lower the car and depress the brake pedal to force out the: brake pads.
8. Check and if necessary adjust the cable length.
