Downshift Switch: Description and Operation
KICK-DOWN FUNCTION
The kick-down function gives information to the Transmission Control Module (TCM), pin 8, if the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.
The kick-down switch is fitted below the accelerator pedal.
A fully depressed accelerator pedal activates the kick-down switch and gives 0 V (ground) on pin 8. The TCM uses the signal to select gear
shifting points for maximum performance. The kick-down function is available in all gear shifting programs.
