Air Bag: Removal and Replacement
Driver Side Air Bag Module, Replace
WARNING:Read through the Safety and handling instruction before starting work.
Removal
1. With the ignition off, remove the negative battery lead.
2. Remove the rubber plugs over the bolt holes (A)
3. Undo the two bolts securing the airbag (B).
4. Lift out the airbag from the steering wheel and unplug the electrical connector on the reverse of the airbag (C).
Installation
1. Plug in the electrical connector to the reverse of the airbag (C).
2. Place the airbag in the steering wheel and tighten the two bolts that secure the airbag (B).
3. Place the rubber plugs over the bolt holes (A).
4. Connect the negative battery lead and switch on the ignition.
5. Connect the ISAT to the data link connector under the facia and erase any diagnostic trouble codes.
Switch off the ignition and switch it back on again. Wait for at least 10 seconds with the ignition on.
Check to see if a diagnostic trouble code is displayed.
If a diagnostic trouble code is displayed: Conduct the appropriate fault diagnosis. See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic
Overview
If no diagnostic trouble code is displayed: Refit all parts that have been removed.
