Refer to Fig. 4 for cooling fan wiring circuit and Figs. 5 and 6 for connector view and terminal identification.
For diagnostic testing, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Codes, Follow equipment manufacturer's instructions for using test equipment.
1. Never remove ICE signal ground on A pillar without first disconnecting battery, as the control module could be seriously damaged.
2. SDA Mk II should never be connected to Intellegant Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool.
3. Data link connector is located by steering column under fascia.
4. During diagnosis, ignition key should always be in drive position.
5. If it is not possible to connect ISAT and cooling system, first check that fuse 3 or 4 in engine compartment distribution center is intact and is
receiving power, then check cable between ICE control module connection No. 60 and data link connector pin No. 8.
6. Check that there is power and correct ground in data link connector and connector pins are undamaged and securely fitted.
7. To avoid damage to control module and components, always check that ignition is switched off before connector(s) is disconnected.
8. Check for correct control module ground connection and power supply.
9. If necessary, remove connectors and check that connections and pins are undamaged and securely fitted. Reconnect connectors and erase all
diagnostic trouble codes. If possible, start vehicle and check if faults are still there.
10. All signals around 12-volt level are proportional to battery voltage and levels should only be used as a guide.
11. The 0-volt signals designate ground, but could give indication of measurable voltage on sensitive multimeter.
12. Never switch from one unit of measurement to another without first disconnecting instrument measuring cables.
13. After performing function check, always erase fault memory with CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES command.
