Steering Column Lock and Ignition Switch Cylinder Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note: The airbag unit must not be forcibly opened and must always be positioned with the upholstered side up.
1. Remove the airbag unit. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air
Bag/Service and Repair).
2. Connect the battery and switch on the ignition.
3. Lock the steering.

Turn the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
Note: Switch off the ignition. Open and close the driver door. The steering lock and ignition lock engage automatically.

Allow the steering lock to engage.
