Service Engine Soon (SES) Lamp Illuminated with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1441 Set in PCM History (Install New PCM Calibration)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2001 - 2002 Saturn L-Series vehicles equipped with 4-cyl (L61) engines
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon (SES) lamp is illuminated. Also DTC P1441 EVAP System Flow During Non Purge may
be stored in PCM history.
CAUSE:
Fuel splash inside the fuel tank during the P1441 test can cause the fuel tank pressure sensor voltage to change enough to fail the test causing the SES
lamp to illuminate.
CORRECTION:
Refer to procedure to determine if an updated PCM calibration is required. If it is determined that a new calibration is required refer to "Service
Programming System (SPS)" in the Saturn Service Stall System (SSS) User Guide for reprogramming procedures.
IMPORTANT:
Before installing new PCM calibration, make sure the Service Stall System (SSS) version is 11.0 or greater.
PROCEDURE:
1.
Connect Scan Tool to the vehicle.
2.
Navigate to the 2.2L (VIN F) menu.
3.
Select appropriate transaxle.
4.
Select ID INFORMATION.
5.
Read PCM Calibration ID.
