Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair
Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (HO2S-2)

REMOVAL
NOTE: The HO2S-2 uses a permanently attached pigtail and connector. This pigtail should not be removed from the HO2S-2. Damage or removal of
the pigtail or connector could affect proper operation of the sensor.
1. Ignition Off.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP
AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE
OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
2. Raise vehicle.
3. Disconnect HO2S-2 harness connector.
4. Remove HO2S-2 harness clip from heat shield attachment.
5. Use liquid penetrate before removing sensor.
NOTE: Removal of the sensor is easier if the exhaust system is slightly warmed. Be careful that the exhaust is not too hot to work on safely. Moving
the sensor back and forth while applying penetrating oil to the threads will aid in removal and will decrease the chance of exhaust pipe thread damage.
6. Remove HO2S-2 using O2 Sensor Wrench J39194C (or equivalent).
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Silicone based products will contaminate the HO2S-2. Use only a nickel based anti-seize compound that does not contain silicone.
