Installation Procedure for Standard HVAC Controller with 3rd Mounting Boss

MODELS AFFECTED: 
2000 - 2001 Saturn L-Series vehicles equipped with standard HVAC controller (RPO C60)

PURPOSE: 

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide an installation procedure for HVAC controllers with the added 3rd mounting boss. The mounting boss is
located on the lower edge of the controller. When installing a HVAC controller with the 3rd mounting boss, it will be necessary to drill a hole in the
radio bezel attachment opening. Refer to service procedure in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Remove HVAC controller. Refer to "HVAC Controller and Temperature Cable" removal procedure in the 2000/2001 L-Series HVAC Service
Manual.

2.

Locate the lower right slot attachment opening.

3.

Measure 12 mm (7/16 in.) from the left edge of the opening and make a vertical line.

4.

Along that line, measure down from the edge of the instrument panel opening 10 mm (3/8 in.) and make a mark on that line.

5.

At the intersection of the two marks made, drill a 5 mm (3/16 in.) hole.

6.

Install HVAC controller. Refer to "HVAC Controller head" installation procedure in the 2000/2001 L-Series HVAC Service Manual.
