Liftgate Window Glass: Removal and Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
2. Remove the lift gate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service
and Repair) in Body Rear End.
3. Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Wiper Motor Replacement - Rear in Wiper/Washer Systems.
Caution: Always wear heavy gloves and safety glasses when handling glass to minimize the risk of injury.
Notice: Care must be taken to avoid damaging paint around glass during removal.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear window defogger bus bars. Position the electrical connectors so not to damage the
wiring/connectors when using the urethane power removal tool.
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces
and inner trim.
5. Apply two 15 cm (6 in) pieces of duct tape to the top and bottom of the glass to prevent it from falling out when the urethane adhesive is cut.
