Daytime Running Lamp: Testing and Inspection

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON.

1. Make sure front turn signals work (filaments are same for turn signal and daytime running lights).
2. Make sure front park lamps work (daytime running lights and park lamps share same fuse).
3. Check 7.5 amp IGN 3 fuse in Instrument Panel Junction Block (IPJB).
4. Check 10 amp DRL fuse in IPJB.
5. If all above is good, replace DRL module located in IPJB.

If further diagnosis is needed:

6. Remove DRL module located in IPJB. Probe at junction block for 12 volts at DRL pin 6. If no 12 volts, check for opens/shorts.
7. With headlamps off, probe at junction block for 12 volts at DRL's pin 2. If no 12 volts, check Circuit 1626, 11, 12 or headlamp switch for

opens/shorts.

8. Make sure DRL pin 3 is not grounded with park brake off. If grounded, repair short.
9. Make sure DRL-pin 4 is grounded. If not grounded, repair open.

10.  With park brake off, headlamps off, ignition on, make sure 12 volts on circuits 593, 14 and 15.

DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS STAY ON WITH IGNITION OFF.

1. Replace module.

DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS STAY ON WITH IGNITION ON AND HEADLAMPS ON.

1. Replace DRL module.

If further diagnosis is needed:

2. Remove DRL module located in IPJB. Probe at junction block DRL pin 2 to ensure pin is ground with headlamps on. If not grounded, repair open.
