Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
NOTE: The front engine crankshaft oil seal is replaced without removing the engine from the vehicle.
1. Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
2. Using the seal installer service tool, install the new oil seal until its fully seated.
CAUTION: The new oil seal should be installed with the front cover installed. The installation tool uses the crankshafts threads to pull the seal
into place. An arbor press and seal installer must be used to install the front seal if the cover is removed. Never tap on the seal or seal installer with
a hammer.
3. Apply a coat of oil to the seal lip and inside diameter of the front cover seal bore.
