"Rattle" or "Buzz" Noise During Steady Throttle with Engine Speed Between 1500-2500 RPM (Install Heater Core Clamp Kit)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1996-1998 Saturns built before and including VIN WZ252356
CONDITION:
A rattle or buzz noise may be heard coming from the front of the vehicle with engine speed between 1500-2500 RPM.
CAUSE:
The noise may be caused by the heater core pipes coming in contact with inside of the heater and A/C module case, or in contact with the heater pipe
opening on the engine side of the dash panel assembly.
CORRECTION:
Verify condition and if required install heater core clamp kit.
PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the rattle or buzz noise is coming from the heater core pipes, by duplicating the condition, according to the following steps:
a.
Remove front air inlet duct assembly and air cleaner assembly.
b.
Bring engine speed up to 1500-2500 RPM.
c.
Hold the heater core pipes stationary, on the engine side of the dash panel.

If the rattle or buzz noise does not go away, refer to the appropriate service manual for further diagnosis.

If the rattle or buzz noise goes away, install heater core clamp kit using the following steps.
