The coolant temperature gauge can be tested using a Portable Diagnostic Tool (PDT) or equivalent scan tool to manipulate gauge readings.
Proceed as follows:
1. Connect scan tool to data link connector, then select "Special" Test when prompted.
2. Follow scan tool prompts to select "Instrument Panel", then "Coolant Gauge".
3. Select test points from scan tool menu. If gauge needle does not fall within shaded test point areas shown in Fig. 7. when corresponding test point
is selected, perform instrument cluster internal resistance inspection, Fig. 8.
