Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair

1. Place front wheels in straight ahead position, then remove steering wheel. Refer to, Steering Wheel/Service and Repair. See: Steering and

Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel

2. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
3. Remove SIR coil assembly from lever control switch.

If coil is removed without wheels facing straight ahead and steering wheel has not been moved, original coil can be reinstalled if the coil
hub also has not been rotated.

4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Route pigtail of SIR coil down steering column and install SIR coil to lever control switch.
b. Route wiring through steering wheel.
C. Replacement SIR coil assemblies are equipped with a yellow tab that is to be removed after steering wheel is installed. This tab must pass

through steering wheel at pass-through hole.
