Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
Installation

BRAKE: BRAKE BOOSTER: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Install a new grommet onto the brake booster assembly.
(b) Install the vacuum check valve onto the brake booster assembly.

2. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Provisionally install the push rod clevis onto the brake booster assembly.

HINT:  Tighten the push rod lock nut when adjusting the brake pedal height.

(b) Install a new gasket onto the brake booster assembly.

(c) Install the brake booster assembly with the 4 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

Torque: 13 Nm (129 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:  Do not damage the brake tubes.

(d) Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum check valve with the clip.

4. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY See: Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock

5. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Hydraulic System/Brake Master Cylinder/Service and Repair/Removal and

6. CONNECT CLUTCH RESERVOIR TUBE (for Manual Transaxle) See: Hydraulic System/Brake Master Cylinder/Service and Repair/Removal

and Replacement/Installation

7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Engine Control Module/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Installation

8. INSTALL OUTER COWL TOP PANEL See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Actuators and Solenoids - Engine/Variable Valve Timing
