BRAKE CONTROL: REAR SPEED SENSOR: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Drum Brake System/Service and Repair/Removal

3. DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR WIRE See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Rear Axle Hub/Removal

4. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Rear Axle

Hub/Removal

5. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR

(a) Mount the rear axle hub and bearing assembly in a vice between aluminum plates.

NOTE: If it is dropped or heavily damaged, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

(b) Using a pin punch and hammer, remove the 2 pins from SST (09520-00031) and remove the attachment (09521-00010).
(c) Using SST and the 2 bolts (90101-12007), remove the speed sensor from the rear axle hub.

NOTICE:
-

Pull the speed sensor off straight, being careful not to make contact with the speed sensor rotor.

-

If the speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

-

Do not damage the speed sensor or rear axle hub contact surfaces.

-

Keep the sensor rotor free of foreign matter.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR

(a) Wipe the sealant off the speed sensor installation surface using non-residue solvent.

NOTE: Keep the sensor rotor free of foreign matter.
