Renewing right-hand drive shaft seal
   
Renewing right-hand drive shaft seal
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Multipurpose tool -VW 771-
t  Extractor tool -VW 771/37-
t  Thrust piece -T10482-
t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-

Removal:
–  If fitted, remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
–  Place drip tray under the gearbox.
   
–  Drain gearbox oil -arrow- → Chapter.
–  Remove drive shaft → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40.

–  Pull out drive shaft seal using -VW 771- and -VW 771/37-.

Installation
–  Drive in new seal onto stop (take care to keep seal straight).
  N39-10630
–  Pack space between sealing lip and dust lip half-full with sealing grease -G 052 128 A1-.
–  Install drive shaft → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40.
–  Fill up gear oil → Chapter.
–  If fitted, install noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
