–  Clamp off supply hose -A- to brake fluid reservoir with hose clamp -3094-.

–  Connect bleeder hose -A- from receptacle bottle of brake filling and bleeding device -V.A.G 1869- or -VAS 5234- and open bleeder valve -arrow- of slave cylinder.
–  Remove covers on driver side → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.
–  Unhook relay plate from both retainers, unscrew upper fastener and tie up relay plate → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.

–  Remove cover from mounting bracket -arrow 1- and -arrow 2-.
–  Remove clutch pedal switch -F36- → Item.
–  Remove over-centre spring → Chapter.

Release master cylinder operating rod from clutch pedal as follows:
–  Insert pliers -T10005- into opening for operating rod mounting.
–  Press sides of retainer inwards -arrows- using pliers -T10005-.
–  Pull clutch pedal gently into passenger compartment.
–  Remove operating rod with retainer from pedal and push into engine compartment to stop.

–  Remove left securing clip from pivot pin.
   To do this, lever tab in -direction of arrow 1- with a screwdriver and press in -direction of arrow 2-.

–  Remove right securing clip for pivot pin on brake pedal side towards dash panel -arrow A-.
   To do this, guide in screwdriver -C- so that it goes under tab -B-.
–  Pull clutch and brake pedal pivot pin to right until clutch pedal can be pulled off.
–  Remove clutch pedal.
