t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051-
t  Diagnosis cable, 3 m with voltage supply -VAS 5051/1- or diagnosis cable, 5 m without voltage supply -VAS 5051/3-
  WARNING
t  During a road test, always secure testing and measuring equipment on the back seat.
t  These devices may be operated only by a passenger during a test drive.

  W00-1236
–  Open ashtray -3-.
–  Push lid -1- slightly to side in direction of arrow. The ashtray insert -2- will spring out slightly and can be removed.
–  With ignition switched off, connect tester -VAS 5051- to diagnostic connection with diagnostic cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3-.

The self-diagnosis connection is located beneath the trim in left footwell.
–  With ignition switched off, connect tester -VAS 5051- to diagnostic connection with diagnostic cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3-.

–  Switch on tester -arrow-.
The tester is operational when it displays a picture of a car.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Touch button or field for "Guided fault finding" on screen.
–  Select one after another:
t  Brand
t  Model
t  Model year
t  Version
t  Engine code
–  Confirm data entered.
Wait until tester has read all control units in vehicle.
–  Press Go to button and select “Function/component selection” function.
Now follow information given on screen to start desired functions.
