Operation process l  Gearbox must be installed –  Unbolt the front right-hand wheel.

–  Remove central noise insulation -Fasteners 1 ... 3-.

–  Remove right hand side noise insulation -Fasteners 1 ... 3-.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2-. –  Remove the right hand side air hose; to do this, lift the retaining clips slightly -arrows-.   Note

The connecting elements of the front exhaust pipes must not be bent more than 10, otherwise they could be damaged. –  Remove the exhaust system by the surrounding sleeve -arrows-. –  Move the surrounding sleeve back.

–  Unbolt the exhaust system bracket -arrows-.

–  Unscrew the connecting rod, right and left, from the stabilizer -arrow-.

–  Extract bolts -1... 3- and remove the pendulum support.

–  Unscrew the right hand side drive shaft from the intermediate bearing. –  Turn steering wheel to right. –  Rotate the right hand side drive shaft forward and secure it up on the longitudinal member, as shown in the illustration.

–  Unscrew the intermediate shaft -B- from the support frame, -arrows-, and take it out of the insert shaft of the gearbox.

–  Release the dust protection hood -arrow- with the screwdriver.

Unscrew the attachment bolt -arrow- from the right hand side insert shaft. –  Unscrew the attachment bolt -arrow- from the right hand side insert shaft using the wrench - T20203 -. –  Fit tray -T20173- beneath gearbox. –  Pull out the insert shaft.

–  Extract the insert shaft seal using the adapter -T20143/2 -. –  Lightly lubricate outer edge of new seal.

–  Fill space between sealing lip and dustcap -arrow-, halfway, with sealing grease → Spare parts catalogue.

–  Fit the new seal until it reaches the limit without leaning it on the tube element -T10089-. –  Press the insert shaft against the gearbox and screw it in. Tightening torque → Item Rest of installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, observing the following: –  Fit the intermediate shaft and right hand side wheel drive shaft → Rep. gr.40. –  Install anti-roll bar → Rep. gr.40.

–  When installing air pipes with plug-in connector, ensure that securing clip -arrow- audibly engages into retaining lug -A-. –  Install and adjust the exhaust system free of stress → Rep. gr.26. –  Add gear oil to the manual gearbox and check the oil level → Chapter. Tightening torques
