Removing and installing bevel box > < Gearbox oil

Check oil level in manual gearbox and top up
Check oil level in manual gearbox and top up
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
All-wheel drive: the gearbox and bevel box have separate oil circuits.
Gear oil for manual gearboxes → Electronic parts catalogue „ETKA“.
Check gear oil in bevel box → Chapter+.
–  Remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.

–  Unscrew the oil level test bolt for gears -arrow-.
Oil level is correct when gearbox is filled to lower edge of filler hole.
–  Install bolt -arrow- with new seal and tighten to 45 Nm.
If the container must be completely filled with oil, note the following:
–  Remove the bolt -arrow-.
–  Fill with gear oil to lower edge of filler hole.
–  Install bolt -arrow- with new seal and tighten to 45 Nm.
–  If present, attach noise insulation to gearbox.
–  Install noise insulation below engine and gearbox.
