When renewing oil seal on right –  Raise vehicle. –  Remove noise insulation tray. –  Unbolt drive shaft from flange shaft. Vehicles without support for right flange shaft

–  Remove bracket -A- of bearing for right flange shaft -B--arrows-. –  Pull out flange shaft. Vehicles with support for right flange shaft –  Put the right drive shaft forwards and tie the drive shaft to the axle link, e.g. with wire.

–  Unscrew bearing for right flange shaft -1--arrows A- and pull flange shaft out of gearbox. –  Unscrew support -2- from engine/gearbox -arrows B- to -D-. –  Guide support past speedometer sender -3- when removing. Continuation for all vehicles –  Remove O-ring from stub shaft.

–  Remove stub shaft. A -  Splitter -Kukko 17/0- B -  Splitter -Kukko 17/!- 1 -  Bolts M10×80 (qty. 2) –  Screw bolts -1- evenly against splitter -B-. –  Pull out oil seal using -VW 681-.

–  Drive oil seal in onto stop with -VW 195-. –  Half-fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with grease -G 052 128 A1-. –  Clamp stub shaft in vice with protective jaw covers.

–  Use new circlip -A- to press old circlip out of groove in stub shaft. –  Fit stub shaft with new circlip and O-ring and drive in with plastic hammer. Vehicles with support for right flange shaft

–  Guide support past speedometer sender -3- when installing. –  Fit support -2- onto engine/gearbox. –  Tighten bolts -arrows B- to -D- in ascending order until finger-tight initially, then to the specified torque.

Bolt -arrow B-	45 Nm
Bolt -arrow C-	20 Nm
Bolt -arrows D- (qty. 4)	45 Nm

–  Insert right flange shaft -1- and tighten bolts -arrows A- firmly → Item. Vehicles without support for right flange shaft –  Install flange shaft.

–  Install bracket -A- of bearing for right flange shaft -arrows-. Continuation for all vehicles –  Bolt drive shaft to flange shaft → Running gear, axles, steering - front and four-wheel drive; Rep. Gr.40. –  With gearbox installed, check gear oil level in final drive → Chapter. –  Install noise insulation tray.
