Removing and installing lumbar support (4-way, electric)
Removing and installing lumbar support (4-way, electric)
Removing
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove seat → Chapter.
–  Fasten seat on seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Removing front belt buckle → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on tunnel side → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
–  Disconnect the two backrest drive wiring harnesses from seat frame on lower side. Detach wiring harnesses from seat frame.
–  Remove backrest → Chapter.
–  Mount backrest on seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove backrest folding table if there is one → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat backrest cover and padding → Chapter.
   
–  Detach wiring harnesses from lumbar support motors.
–  Drill out rivet -1- on rear of backrest.
–  Swivel lumbar support -2- out of backrest frame.
–  Detach lumbar support from the two mountings -3- and -4- in the upper front area of backrest frame.

Installing
–  Install in reverse order of removal.
  Note
Use pop rivet pliers -VAS 5072- to fit pop rivet.
