Removing and installing backrest adjustment drive > < Removing and installing trim bracket on sill side
Removing and installing seat longitudinal adjustment
Removing and installing seat longitudinal adjustment
  Note
Seat longitudinal adjustment motor cannot be renewed separately, but only with seat pan supporting frame.
Removing
–  Remove head restraint.
–  Position seat in highest seat position.
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove seat → Chapter.
–  Fasten seat on seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Removing front belt buckle → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on tunnel side → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
–  Detach wiring harnesses from seat base.
–  Remove trim bracket on sill side → Chapter.
   
–  Detach wiring harness from seat longitudinal adjustment motor.
–  On sill side of seat frame, undo bolt -1- from height adjustment drive.
–  Secure the spindle mounting -2- to prevent it being turned.
–  Undo and remove front bolts -5- and -6-.
–  Undo and remove rear bolts -3- and -4-.

   
–  Pull seat pan -1- upwards off seat pan underframe -2-.

Installing
   
–  Place seat pan -1- on seat pan underframe -2-.

   
  Note
t  The bolts are microencapsulated and must be renewed each time they are loosened.
t  Before new bolts are installed, the threads of the corresponding holes must be cleaned.
  Caution
All bolts must be initially tightened by hand to prevent damage to the threaded bushes and bearing bushes.
–  Tighten rear bolts -3- and -4- to 22 Nm.
–  Remove locking element of spindle mounting -2-.
–  Tighten height adjustment drive bolt -1- to 18 Nm.
–  Tighten front bolts -5- and -6- to 22 Nm.
–  Connect wiring harness of seat longitudinal adjustment motor.

–  Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
