Windscreen glass: removal
Windscreen glass: removal
–  Unclip the mouldings from roof in strut A zone → Chapter, Front roof mouldings: removal and installation.
–  Unscrew the windscreen wiper arms (hexagon nuts M8 = 20 Nm).
–  Extract the cover mouldings from the plenum chamber → Anchor; Plenum chamber cover moulding: removal and installation.
   
–  Remove the rear-view mirror -1- from its support, turning it to the left -arrow- until it unclips.
–  Unscrew the sun visors (this way you will have an opening between the glass flange and the interior roof moulding).
–  Release the hermetic strip from the sides of the windscreen glass with plastic spatula -U-30800- and scrub it with soapy water or neutral Vaseline.

–  Place a protective plastic film -1--V.A.G. 1474 A- between the windscreen glass and the dash panel.
–  With the aid of the small hose place the wire or cutting wire -2- on the glass flange; if the opening is too thin, prise it with plastic spatula -U-30800-.
–  Introduce, via the hermetic adhesive paste, the wire or cutting wire -2- into the interior of the vehicle using the awl (from -V.A.G. 1474A-). The wire or cutting wire is doubled until the axis of the windscreen wipers.
–  Loosen the screw -3- from the articulation rod and secure the end of the wire or cutting wire -4-.
  Note!
Introduce the awl by the sides of the glass, trying to make sure that this rests as closely as possible to the bodywork flange passing through the sealant adhesive, so that the hermetic lip is not damaged.

–  Fix the interior end to the spool of -V.A.G. 1474A-.
–  Set spool -V.A.G. 1474 A- to “position I”.
–  Move the spool to the corresponding positions and free, cutting the glass.
–  Whilst cutting, press the wire or cutting wire towards the glass with plastic spatula -U-30800-, in order to have space between the glass flange and the dash panel.
–  Once the windscreen has been removed, release the leak profile from the upper part of the windscreen with plastic spatula -U-30800- and scrub it with soapy water or neutral Vaseline.
