The engine number (“Code letters” and “Serial number”) can be found on the front part of the engine block, gearbox side, underneath the thermostat housing. |
The engine number consists of up to nine (alphanumerical) symbols. The first part (three identification letters at most) represents the “en-gine identification letters”, the second part (with six figures) is the “correlative number”. If more than 999,999 engines have been manufactured with the same identification letters, the first figure is to be replaced by a letter. |
Additionally there is a sticker on the toothed belt guard with “Engine code” and “Serial number”. |
The engine code is also included on the vehicle data plate. |
